Henley Royal Regatta 2018
Leaders First attending the Henley Royal Regatta 2018 on Sunday, 8th July.
Major sports events can play a powerful role at the start of what is a complex process, sparking people’s desire in achieving success, and signposting them towards the next stage of that journey. And at Leaders First we believe that watching a sport event as a live spectator have more power to inspire and change people's lives.
On Sunday the 8th of July, Leaders First members and guests had a unique opportunity to attended one of the world's greatest rowing events, the Henley Royal Regatta, in the atmosphere of a members Leander club and Stewards enclosure.
Every July, the world's top rowers head for Henley-on-Thames, west of London, to compete at Henley. International university crews, rowing clubs and Olympic hopefuls from all over the world put their skills against each other in head-to-head, knock-out heats on a stretch of the Thames.
Rowing teams come to compete at Henley from everywhere. This year international rowing crews arrived from Australia, the Netherlands, American crews from Yale, Princeton, Washington, also Eaton college, St Paul’s school and University of Edinburg, and many other rowing teams represented Great Britain.
After a traditional luncheon was served in the members marquee of the historic Leander Club, everyone proceeded to watch the final day of the rowing competition from the exclusive Stewards Enclosure, the area of the riverbank closest to the finish – the best place to watch it from. We also caught a very special moment, a very animated celebration of the records-breaking winning race by St Paul's 8 crew, who all ended up jumping in water while being cheered by their family and closed ones. The spectacular competition day finished with motivating to watch prize giving ceremony. Sir Steve Redgrave, Regatta Chairman, and Dame Katherine Grainger, handed out the trophies to the 2018 Henley Royal Regatta champions.
Modern psychology studies confirm that identifying with sports teams or sportsmen is one of the way you can vicariously experience success. Without a doubt The Henley Royal Regatta was a perfect event for that. Leaders First will continue making a contribution towards people’s journey on their road to success with more events coming this Autumn.
